Clos St. Denis is one of the most renowned and respected parcels of land in Burgundy, known for producing incredible, age-worthy Pinot Noir of the highest quality. This appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) is home to a legendary Grand Cru vineyard in the Morey-Saint-Denis commune.
Clos Saint-Denis was originally a church-owned vineyard, belonging to the Collégiale de St-Denis de Vergy. Wines from here have been described as the “Mozart” of the Cote-de-Nuits region, and famous producers like Domaine Dujac and Domaine Drouhin have made spectacular wines from this tiny piece of land.
With a due east exposure and the legendary soil composed of limestone and rugged stones, this vineyard yields small but expressive amounts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It was originally planted in the 13th century.
